Dr. Houman David Hemmati is a distinguished physician-scientist, biopharmaceutical entrepreneur, and academic ophthalmologist committed to improving healthcare and advocating for the well-being of Californians. Holding an MD from UCLA and a PhD in Biology from Caltech, as well as his education and training at Stanford, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and MIT, he is a pioneer in stem cell research, including the co-discovery of fetal blood-forming stem cells and identifying cancer stem cells in the brain.
As an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor (Voluntary) of Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, Dr. Hemmati mentors future medical professionals and has provided care at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.
